(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A 911 call came in about a traffic crash, in the 700 block of West Garden of the Gods Road, where a vehicle hit a building and drove away from the scene, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
CSPD reported that around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, when the officer arrived in the area of Garden of the God’s Rd near North Chestnut Street, they crossed paths with the vehicle as it was driving away from the scene and tried to attempt a stop, but after the driver refused to stop, the officer did not pursue.
According to CSPD, once the driver was identified, officers responded to the address of the registered owner of the vehicle and successfully stopped it in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The driver didn’t show any signs of being intoxicated but was an adult with a learner’s permit who was trying to teach themself how to drive.
CSPD said that no one was injured and the building that was hit had very minimal damage.
