(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) sent a notification that Shane Worth Poteet, labeled as a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) by the court, has changed addresses within the department’s jurisdiction.

According to CSPD, Poteet was convicted in Prowers County of Attempted Sexual Assault on a Child in 2016, 3rd Degree Assault in 2015, and Attempted Internet Sexual Exploitation of a child in 2010.

Poteet is now registered as living at 1612 Edith Lane and is described as a 35-year-old white man who is 5’11” tall and 200 lbs. with blond hair and blue eyes.

As required by law, CSPD has made a community notification and is undertaking the following tasks:

Notified the Colorado Department of Public Safety’s Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) Notification Team.

Reviewed and confirmed Poteet’s residence, employment, access to vehicles, legal status, and past crimes.

Made notifications to neighbors and businesses deemed to be in the immediate area.

Briefed patrol personnel on Poteet’s status, history, appearance, residence, employment, and vehicles.

Notified surrounding law enforcement agencies.

CSPD will make all reasonable efforts to make sure that Poteet registers as a sex offender and understands his rights and responsibilities.

Poteet is one of 20 Sexually Violent Predators currently registered with CSPD and live in the community, and the department said that it takes his presence very seriously and will ensure he conducts himself lawfully and that citizens are safe and secure.
