(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that officers responded to a crash involving a stolen vehicle near the intersection of South Circle Drive and Monterey Road, near Hancock Expressway, on Sunday, June 8. When officers pursued the suspect, bystanders helped track them down.
According to CSPD, the crash occurred between two vehicles around 5 p.m. on Sunday. When officers arrived, they discovered that one of the cars had been reported as stolen. The suspect ran from the area, and bystanders followed, directing the officers to the suspect’s hiding place when they arrived.
CSPD reported that the suspect, a minor, tried to run from police but was caught after a brief chase. Officers found a handgun with an illegal extended magazine in the possession of the minor, and the suspect was on juvenile parole at the time of the arrest.
Those involved in the crash received minor injuries, and Circle Drive was temporarily closed during the incident.
