(COLORADO SPRINGS) — According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), on Sunday, May 25, a group of car enthusiasts gathered at Memorial Park and drove recklessly in the parking lot and roadways. When an uninvolved bystander began recording the gathering, members of the group assaulted them.
CSPD reported that around 7 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to reports that the members of the car group had been upset by the video recording and had assaulted the bystander, but people nearby ran in to help the victim.
According to CSPD, the suspects and the rest of the car group drove off when the police arrived. The victim was taken to the hospital and treated with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects have not yet been identified.
CSPD stated, “These car groups continue to gather and engage in dangerous driving behaviors, interfering with the enjoyment of parks and other venues by others.”
Anyone with information about the assault or car groups is asked to call CSPD.
