(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) responded to a structure fire in Stratmoor that left one seriously injured, and another with smoke inhalation.
According to CSFD, fire crews were on scene of an extinguished structure fire in the block of 3700 Strawberry Fields Grove on Sunday night at around 8:33 p.m.
The Colorado Springs Police Department also responded to the fire. Officers were already in the area for an unrelated call for service when they heard an explosion and then screaming at around 7:49 p.m. According to CSPD, officers requested fire and medical resources after they found two victims injured.
One victim sustained serious burns and a minor suffered from smoke inhalation, they were both taken to the hospital. An officer was also treated at a medical facility and released.
The fire was limited to only one structure. CSFD and CSPD are investigating the cause of the explosion.
