(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to reports of a stabbing near North Cascade Avenue and Pikes Peak Avenue on Saturday, Dec. 28 around 11:15 p.m., that left one person injured.
According to CSPD, the Downtown Area Response Team (DART) arrived on scene almost immediately after the stabbing was reported. DART officers had been in contact earlier with the suspect on a different disturbance call and were quickly able to identify him based on the information they received.
CSPD said that officers found the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Deonte Cox, 20 minutes after receiving the call and took him into custody in the 300 block of North Nevada Avenue, near Platte Avenue. Cox was booked into he El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on a charge of Assault in the First Degree.
The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
