(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that on Saturday morning, May 3, officers responded to a two-car crash that occurred after a brief pursuit by law enforcement. One person was seriously injured in the crash.
According to CSPD, the Major Crash Team investigated the scene at the intersection of East La Salle Street and Chelton Road, and learned that a deputy from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) had earlier tried to pull over one of the vehicles for a traffic stop, but the vehicle drove off. After a short pursuit, the EPSO deputy ended the chase. The vehicle was involved in the crash at La Salle and Chelton a short time later.
CSPD reported that when officers arrived at the scene around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, they found that the driver who had been involved in the pursuit had been ejected from the car. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
