CSPD grapple stolen vehicle from Pueblo

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said on Wednesday, Oct. 15, officers stopped a stolen vehicle out of Pueblo near North Powers Boulevard and North Carefree Circle.

According to CSPD, on Wednesday at around 7 p.m., the Pueblo Police Department investigated a stolen Hyundai in their jurisdiction. It was learned that the stolen vehicle traveled to Colorado Springs, where CSPD detectives with the Motor Vehicle Theft Unit found the vehicle near the intersection of N. Carefree Cir. and North Academy Boulevard.

Detectives conducted surveillance of the vehicle and followed it to N. Powers Blvd. and N. Carefree Cir. Detectives then grappled the vehicle, causing it to stop. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Gabriel Cervantez, surrendered to detectives. The passenger, 26-year-old Dante Salazar, allegedly ran from police but was captured after a brief chase.

According to CSPD, Cervantez is a convicted Motor Vehicle Theft offender; both suspects were taken to the Criminal Justice Center for booking.
