CSPD identifies motorcyclist in fatal traffic crash

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) identified the motorcyclist who died in the fatal crash at the intersection of North Hancock Avenue and East 4th Street on the evening of Saturday, June 1.

The motorcyclist has been identified as 27-year-old Cody Ray of Colorado Springs.

Upon arrival at the intersection, officers discovered the motorcycle rider had been thrown from his motorcycle and was deceased on scene.


Deadly motorcycle-car crash on Hancock and 4th Street

Initial information showed the motorcycle was traveling southbound on North Hancock Avenue when a vehicle at East 4th Street pulled forward through a stop sign. Both vehicles collided in the intersection.

On Monday, June 3, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased motorcyclist and identified him.

CSPD reported that further information determined Ray was traveling south on North Hancock Avenue at more than double the speed limit, which is 30 MPH in the area. Speed was identified as a contributing factor in this crash.

This is the 25th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. CSPD is still investigating the crash.
