(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) identified the man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
CSPD said around 10:30 p.m., officers found a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the Walmart located in the 3200 block of East Platte Ave. The vehicle was unoccupied, and CSPD officers coordinated with extra-duty officers inside the Walmart to identify the occupants of the vehicle.
Officers were able to identify the occupants of the car as 29-year-old Tyler Ben and a woman. Officers approached the individuals as they were exiting the store, and CSPD said Ben produced a handgun.

The woman was not injured, and she was detained by officers. According to CSPD, she was interviewed and released with no charges.
No officers were injured in this incident, and per CSPD policy, they will be investigating the incident as an officer-involved shooting.
