CSPD investigating after suspect allegedly fired gun during car repossession

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has launched an investigation after shots were fired during a car repossession.

On Tuesday, Sept. 16, just before 9 p.m., the victim, who works for a local recovery company, tried to repossess a car in the 700 block of East Moreno Avenue, near South Shooks Run Park, but was confronted by a man during the process.

According to CSPD, after the man told the worker they could not take the car, the suspect ripped the cameras off the tow truck. This didn’t stop the worker from doing their job and leaving with the repossessed car loaded onto the truck. In response, the suspect fired multiple shots at the tow truck, injuring a different man in the process.

This is when someone in the house where the repossession company was originally sent called CSPD to report the incident. Officers responded and collected multiple shell casings, as well as provided medical care to the man who had been shot. He was taken to a hospital for his injuries, and CSPD has taken the repossessed car as evidence.

The investigation is ongoing.
