(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A call came in reporting that a woman was not breathing, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), and when emergency services arrived, they confirmed that the woman had died, after which her companion was arrested for murder.
CSPD reported that around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, officers responded to the 800 block of Yuma Street, near North Circle Drive and East Platte Avenue, where they found a woman inside a home who was not conscious or breathing. Medical personnel from the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) confirmed that she had died.
According to CSPD, officers also encountered a man at the home, identified as the woman’s companion, who said that he had been in a verbal and physical altercation with the woman before she had died. Detectives with the homicide unit took over the investigation, and the man was arrested for Murder in the Second Degree.
The suspect is not being identified at this time because the investigation is still ongoing.
