CSPD: ‘No plans’ in reviewing former CBI analyst ‘Missy’ Woods cases

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said it will not be reviewing any former sexual assault cases handled by former CBI analyst Yvonne “Missy” Woods.

On Tuesday, April 8, the Denver Police Department announced it would independently review hundreds of sexual assault cases handled by Woods. In November 2023, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced it was investigating Woods after anomalies were discovered in her DNA testing work.

Now, Denver police are choosing to review the sexual assault kits that Woods worked on for over 12 years. CBI is also currently in the process of reviewing more than 10,000 cases Woods worked on in almost 30 years with the agency.

When asked about any reviews, CSPD told FOX21 News it had no plans on reviewing any reports regarding sexual assault kits.

“To date, CBI has not informed us of any CSPD cases submitted to that agency that have been affected by the investigation involving former CBI employee Missy Woods,” said a CSPD spokesperson. “As such, we have not conducted any additional testing. If information is developed indicating our department’s cases were affected, we will work with our partners at the District Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriate steps moving forward.”
