(COLORADO SPRINGS) — According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers responded to reports of a burglary in progress at a vape shop near the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and North Academy Boulevard on Saturday, June 21, that led to the arrest of a man who had around 500 fentanyl pills in his possession.
CSPD reported that around 1 a.m. on Saturday, a call came in about the burglary in the 3900 block of Academy, describing a white man carrying a dark backpack as one of the suspects. A little later, a call came in reporting a disturbance about a block away, near Betty Drive and Van Teylingen Drive, with one of the people involved fitting the description of the suspect.
The people were reported as having last been seen heading north toward American Drive, leading officers to track down the suspect in the 3600 block of Austin Bluffs, according to CSPD. Officers tried to interact with the suspect, but he ran away, heading northbound across all lanes of traffic.
CSPD reported that officers chased him and were able to detain him safely out of traffic. They discovered that the suspect, identified as Christopher Lambrite, had multiple warrants, and after searching him, found that he had about 500 fentanyl pills in his possession.
