(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while crossing at the intersection of East St. Elmo Avenue and South Nevada Avenue on Monday, August 5, and later died of their injuries, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD was notified about the crash around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, and when officers and medical personnel arrived at the scene, the victim was taken to the hospital, where they later died.

The Major Crash Team took over the investigation and found that the pedestrian had been crossing northbound on Nevada and St. Elmo in the crosswalk when they were struck by a westbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, and neither speed nor impairment is considered a factor. No arrests were made and the investigation is still ongoing.
