CSPD priority dispatch activated for communications systems upgrade

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) will be going on a planned Priority Dispatch and Accident Alert status on Tuesday, March 12, from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. for an internal computer systems upgrade in its communications center.

CSPD will respond to in-progress life-threatening emergencies during this time, and people should still call 911 during an emergency. All other non-emergency situations or crimes should be reported online or after 10 a.m., if possible.

CSPD will also respond to any serious traffic crashes involving death or serious bodily injuries. If a traffic incident involves fatality or injury requiring medical attention, or if alcohol or drug impairment are suspected, drivers should call to report it. Otherwise, if all drivers are present with license, registration, and insurance information, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, drivers should exchange information and follow online cold reporting procedures.

CSPD should return to normal dispatching after the communications systems update is complete after 10 a.m.
