(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) pursued an allegedly stolen car on Tuesday, Oct. 7, arresting a 52-year-old man, according to CSPD.
CSPD said on Tuesday, detectives of CSPD’s Motor Vehicle Theft Unit, along with help from a K9 Officer, found a stolen vehicle in the 700 block of Citadel Drive East near North Academy Boulevard and East Platte Avenue.
According to CSPD, the stolen vehicle, a 2025 Kia Telluride, was reported stolen on Oct. 3, and through the detectives’ investigation, they learned the vehicle allegedly had been involved in a number of other criminal incidents, including multiple events of theft from retail stores.
CSPD identified the driver as 52-year-old Arthur Tolley. Detectives started surveillance on the Kia, which led to a traffic stop in the area of Galley Road and Academy, where the Kia failed to stop and ran from police.
Detectives were able to continue surveillance as the vehicle eventually traveled to the area of East Jackson Street and Wahsatch Avenue. Tactical Officers attempted to contact the Kia; however, the Kia drove from the contact and traveled to the area of Rebecca Lane and N. Academy Blvd. near Maizeland Road. Detectives found the vehicle and Tolley, along with a 50-year-old woman, Barbara Tolley, a short distance away.
Arthur was arrested and facing charges of Motor Vehicle Theft and two counts of Vehicular Eluding.
