CSPD: Scooter driver cited for several traffic offenses after crash

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) cited a scooter driver after they allegedly caused a crash.

At around 4:36 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, police responded to a crash at I-25 and South Circle Drive. The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD), AMR, and CSPD responded to the scene and learned the crash occurred on Lake Avenue at the southbound off-ramp for I-25.

The investigation revealed the scooter driver was westbound on Lake Avenue and went through a red traffic signal for westbound traffic and crashed into a car going eastbound from the off-ramp on a green light.

The scooter driver was transported to the hospital for serious injuries and was cited for several traffic offenses.

Police said alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash.
