CSPD: Stabbing suspect charged with attempted homicide

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that officers responded to a call regarding a stabbing on Sunday, June 15, that caused serious injury to the victim.

According to CSPD, around 11:20 on Sunday, officers arrived at the scene in the 2700 block of Janitell Road, near South Circle Drive and I-25. Officers found the victim with serious injuries, and emergency crews transported them to the hospital.

The suspect, 49-year-old Johnny Simmons, was found and taken into custody. He is facing charges of attempted homicide.
