(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said officers responded after a teacher found a gun on a student on Monday, April 22. CSPD said no one was hurt during the incident.
According to CSPD, the incident happened around 11:30 a.m. at Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy in School District 49 (D49). D49 said the student was reported and found with a weapon on the campus. The student was removed from class and all students and staff are safe. CSPD said there was no threat made to the school and there is no concern of anything planned.
“We understand that this news may be concerning, but please be assured that we are taking all necessary precautions to address the situation. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority,” D49 said.
D49 added it would provide updates as more information is available.
