CSPD: Two arrested in connection to fatal hit-and-run on Edison Avenue

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said two people have been arrested as suspects in a fatal hit-and-run on Dec. 29, 2024.

According to CSPD, on Sunday, Dec. 29 at around 10:30 p.m., officers were called to the 4500 block of Edison Avenue near East Platte Avenue and North Murray Boulevard for a hit-and-run crash. When officers arrived, they found a bicyclist in the roadway, later identified as 55-year-old Michael Pompa. Pompa was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The Major Crash Team responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Its investigation showed Pompa was traveling west on Edison Avenue and was hit by a car and knocked off his bicycle. A short time later, a second vehicle driving west ran over Pompa on the roadway. Both vehicles left the area before police arrived.

CSPD’s investigation developed probable cause for the arrest of two suspects; 24-year-old Chloe Geiger and 40-year-old Corey Skinner. An arrest warrant for the two was issued on Jan. 17, Geiger turned herself in on Jan. 20 and Skinner turned himself in on Jan. 21.

Geiger is facing a felony charge of Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury (Hit-and-Run). Skinner is facing a charge of Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury as well as Careless Driving Resulting in Death.
