CSPD: Unarmed patrons stop suspect in shooting incident

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A shooting was reported to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) around midnight on Sunday, May 11, in which three people were injured.

According to CSPD, when officers arrived at the location in the 200 block of South Academy Boulevard, near Pikes Peak Avenue, they found two shooting victims, and later learned of a third who had been taken to the hospital.

As the shooting began, unarmed patrons of the business intervened and detained the suspect, and according to CSPD, their quick actions potentially averted a much worse outcome.

CSPD said that the victims were expected to survive.
