CU, CSU bowl games announced: Here’s where they ended up

DENVER (KDVR) — The University of Colorado Boulder Buffaloes and the Colorado State University Rams both qualified to take part in a bowl game during the 2024 College Football post-season.

This is the first time more than one Colorado team has qualified to play in a bowl game since 2016.

CU bowl game

The No. 23 CU Buffs have been selected to play against No. 17 Brigham Young University in the Valero Alamo Bowl.

The game is on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 5:30 p.m. in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

CU ended up ranked No. 23 in the final ranking after their 9-3 season. This is the best record the team has had since the 2016 season when it finished No. 17 nationwide.

This is also the first bowl game that the Buffs have played since 2020 when the team went up against the University of Texas Austin in the Alamo Bowl.

How did CU end up in the Alamo Bowl against a Big 12 team?

The Alamo Bowl has historically been a matchup between Big 12 and Pac-12 teams. This year the match-up was set to be a Big 12 team against a current or legacy Pac-12 team, which was how CU ended up selected to play in the game.

BYU was one of the Big 12 teams that the Buffs did not play against this season and finished 10-2 overall and 8-2 in conference play just like CU.

The season ended with a four-way tie between the top teams in the Big 12, with CU and BYU both falling short of qualifying for the Big 12 Championship game.

The two teams have played against each other 11 times in the past, with CU grabbing 7 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie against the Cougars.

However, the last time the two teams played was in 1988.

CSU bowl game

CSU was selected to play in the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl against the Miami University RedHawks out of Oxford, Ohio.

The game is on Dec. 28 at 2:30 p.m. MST at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, Arizona.

The game will air on Colorado’s Very Own Channel 2.

This is the first bowl game that the Rams have played since 2017 when they were matched up against Marshall University in the New Mexico Bowl.

Miami University is part of the Mid-American Conference and finished their season 8-5 overall.
