(CUSTER COUNTY, Colo.) — It’s out with the old and in with the new at the Custer County Sheriff’s Office. On Saturday, Sept. 7, the department posted that it had received an International MaxxPro armored vehicle, which will replace an outdated, unarmored Humvee that had not been operational for years.
The above photos show the retired Humvee on the left and the new armored vehicle on the right.
The new vehicle will be used for rescuing citizens and responders during active shooter scenarios and can also assist with rescues during flooding. It was provided by the Defense Logistics Agency.
One deputy is trained as both a driver and maintenance technician for the vehicle.
