D11 said many choosing other careers creating shortage

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Saturday, July 13 Colorado Springs School District 11 (D11) invited the public to the largest recruitment fair of the summer. D11 said it struggles to fill positions due to many choosing other career paths.

D11 is offering a variety of incentives to help fill the 122 positions currently open in the district.

“With our ever-changing world, there are new opportunities for different careers, and we’re finding that many college graduates are choosing different fields to go into. And so in education, we need to look at what our offerings are to start recruiting people back,” said Jennifer Harris, Senior Executive Director of Talent Management at The Colorado Springs School District 11.

D11 offered potential recruits a more than $50,000 starting salary for teachers and a potential performance bonus for administrators.
