(COLORADO SPRINGS) — One dachshund went on an extreme adventure while out on the porch, prompting firefighters to respond to get the pup out of a pipe.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) reported that fire crews responded to the call for help on Wednesday night, May 28. According to the fire department, the dog named Finley was stuck in a pipe under a concrete slab on the porch.
Finley’s owners called the fire department for help, and the daschund was reportedly trapped for several hours. The fire department responded and used search cameras to locate him; he was 15 feet into the pipe, according to CSPD.
Once located, firefighters cut a hole in the concrete to dig out dirt and reach under the slab to get Finley out. CSPD reported that Finley “immediately” began running around and wagging his tail when reunited with his family.
“A special shout-out goes to Paramedic Alan Kent- with only 13 shifts left on the job before retirement, he upheld his duty and ensured Finley was healthy and happy, CSPD wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter). “He advised the family to get the pup checked out by a vet just in case.”
