(MONTEZUMA COUNTY, Colo.) — Deputies with the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) and investigators with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are looking for the 5-year-old son of a woman who was murdered on July 2, and law enforcement believes the boy is with his father.

According to the CBI, an Endangered Missing Alert was issued on July 18 for 5-year-old Helliono Martinez, a Hispanic boy who was last seen with his father, 43-year-old Charles Martinez, on July 16. The CBI said the father and son were seen in a gold 2011 Dodge Ram heading to Charles’ home on Highway 160 in Cortez.

The CBI said investigators have since located the truck but have not been able to find Charles or Helliono Martinez.

Helliono’s mother, 39-year-old Chrystal Snow, was found dead of gunshot wounds in her home on the morning of July 2, soon after a 911 call was placed from her house in Pagosa Springs. Hours later, investigators were able to locate Helliono safely with an aunt in Cortez. No persons of interest have been named in the homicide of Chrystal Snow, the CBI said.

On July 16, the Department of Human Services (DHS) obtained a court order granting the state of Colorado emergency custody of Helliono. According to the CBI, that same day is when investigators learned Helliono was last seen with his father around 1:30 in the afternoon.

“There is growing concern for the boy’s well-being and law enforcement is seeking the public’s help in finding Helliono Martinez,” said the CBI in a press release.

Helliono Martinez is is a Hispanic boy, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 3’5″ tall and weighs 75 pounds. Charles Martinez is a Hispanic man, 5’11” tall, 215 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
