(MONUMENT, Colo.) — A detour will be in place in Monument for 4-6 weeks as part of the ongoing Highway 105A Construction Project.
According to El Paso County, Lake Woodmoor Drive will be closed between Highway 105 and South Park Drive starting Monday, Feb. 25. During the closure, Lake Woodmoor Drive will be widened to add a southbound right turn lane, and the grade approaching Highway 105 will be smoothed out, along with the necessary storm drain enhancements and multiple utility relocations.
A detour will be in place for neighbors to access Highway 105:

The detour and construction work may have impacts on Monument Academy drop off and pick up times, and alternate routes are advised for non-school traffic during these times:
Mondays – Thursdays: 7 – 8:30 a.m. and 2:45 – 4 p.m.
Fridays: 7 – 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The Highway 105A Construction Project includes multi-use shoulders and pedestrian improvements, sidewalk connectivity, replacement of the traffic signal at Knollwood Boulevard, a new underground drainage system and water quality pond, and a new roundabout at the Knollwood/Village Ridge Point intersection.
The project began in July of 2023 and is expected to continue into 2025. The project will expand the two-lane highway to four lanes east of Jackson Creek Parkway, in an effort to accommodate more traffic as Monument grows.
