Dog rescued from San Juan Mountains after 2 weeks by nonprofit organization

DENVER (KDVR) — An Arizona family’s dog, Konnie, is safe once again after spending 14 days alone in the San Juan Mountains near Silverton.

Konnie went missing on July 4 while traveling with his family, who was exploring the San Juan Mountains. After searching extensively, the family decided to return home, hoping to one day see their pooch again.

On Friday, the founder of San Juan Mountain Adventures, Jimmy Keene, successfully rescued the lost dog. Keene said that after hearing the story, he took it upon himself to find Konnie. For 14 days, Keen tracked Konnie through the rocky landscape.

“We never gave up hope,” said Keene. “The San Juan Mountains are vast and beautiful, but they can be unforgiving. Konnie’s resilience and the unwavering support of the community kept me going. I’m thrilled to reunite Konnie with her family.”
