Dog with trust issues looking for a home

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A dog discovered on the side of the road was initially thought to be paralyzed, but as the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) learned, the poor dog was paralyzed with fear.

HSPPR said Arby’s was found on the side of the road with a severe leg injury by Animal Law Enforcement. The officer brought him to HSPPR believing the dog to be paralyzed because he wouldn’t move. When HSPPR’s vet team examined him, they found he was physically capable of walking, but was paralyzed with fear.

HSPPR did not know what Arby’s went through before being found, but he was terrified of everything and everyone.

HSPPR has been working with Arby’s, and slowly he has healed and started to trust again. He has been walking on a leash side by side with his handler and leaning into anyone offering love and seeking out pets and attention.

HSPPR said Arby’s may never be a social butterfly, he does need time and patience to get to know new people, and trust doesn’t come easily for him. Arby’s will do best in a home where he can be the center of attention and feel safe, he is not fond of other dogs, and due to his size, a spacious house will help him thrive, according to HSPPR.

“Arby’s is looking for someone who will be patient and gentle, someone who will help him heal and learn to trust again,” wrote HSPPR.
