(OLD COLORADO CITY, Colo.) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has released the identity of a driver killed in a single-car crash in Old Colorado City earlier in February.
According to CSPD, officers originally responded just before 10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10 to the intersection of 21st Street and Uintah Street on a report of a single-car crash.
Upon arrival, officers determined that a car heading eastbound went off the road and hit multiple trees and a building before coming to rest. The driver was thrown from the car and declared dead on the scene.
It was later determined that the car was traveling at high speeds when the crash occurred, and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, CSPD said.
On Feb. 11, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as 33-year-old Ross Herrmann. This was the first traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2025. At the same time in 2024, there had been three fatalities.
