Dundee Place stabbing victim identified, suspect arrested

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The El Paso County Coroner has identified the victim in a fatal stabbing on the southeast side of the city on Sunday, April 14.

On Monday, April 15, the coroner’s office identified the victim as 65-year-old Frank Mason of Colorado Springs. While the coroner will determine the official cause and manner of death, the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) originally responded to the 3600 block of Dundee Place, near the intersection of Airport Road and South Chelton Road, on Sunday around 11:17 a.m., where they discovered a man suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Officers attempted lifesaving measures but were unsuccessful, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. CSPD arrested a suspect identified as 32-year-old Alexander Brown, a neighbor of Mason. He was taken into custody without incident and brought to El Paso County Jail and is being charged with First Degree Murder.

This is the 11th homicide in Colorado Springs in 2024, compared to this time in 2023, when there were six homicides.
