(PIKES PEAK REGION) — Tuesday, April 22, is Earth Day, and a variety of free events around the Pikes Peak Region offer activities to promote environmental awareness and community engagement throughout the area. Check out the opportunities below.
Three Parks. Three Days.
For the fourth year, volunteers can help remove invasive plants, restore trails, reseed areas, and clean up trash in Blodgett Open Space, Palmer Park, and Ute Valley Park during the “Three Parks. Three Days” cleanup event on the following days:
Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Blodgett Open Space
Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Palmer Park
Sunday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ute Valley Park
Volunteers should wear sturdy outdoor clothes, including durable shoes or boots, eye protection, and work gloves. People of all skill levels are encouraged to participate.
Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup
The Fountain Creek Watershed District is hosting the 2025 Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup event, where volunteers can register for a cleanup event at more than 20 locations throughout the Pikes Peak region, including several City trials and parks.
The event takes place on Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to noon. Trash bags and safety vests will be made available at each site, but volunteers should wear durable shoes and work gloves.
Earth Day Recycling Event
Goodwill of Colorado and Dell will host a free community recycling event to offer a safe way for people to recycle electronics or gently used clothing, and household items. The event will take place at the UCHealth Administrative Center at 2420 East Pikes Peak Avenue on Tuesday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event is part of the national Dell Reconnect program aimed at providing an environmentally responsible way to get rid of items such as old computers, printers, peripheral items, or cell phones.
Drivers can enter the UCHealth parking lot from Pikes Peak Avenue, proceed to the southwest side of the parking lot to drop off their donations, and exit onto Bijou Street.
Off-Road Trailride Clean-Up
Focus on the Forest and Great Outdoors Adventures are hosting an Earth Day appreciation cleanup in the Pike National Forest. On Tuesday, April 22, volunteers can either show up in their own off-road vehicle or ride along in a complimentary Jeep tour and National Forest Clean-up. Rentals are also available. Participants should arrive between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. The rides take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and grilled cheese will be available from an on-site food truck from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
