(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Springs Rescue Mission (SRM) hosted their Easter banquet on Thursday, April 17, where people without homes were able to enjoy a nice meal and some music.
When guests approached the dining hall at SRM, they were greeted with tables full of free socks, among other things.
“There’s a good ambiance in the air today, and I really enjoy it. You can feel a lot of the people’s auras, you know, it’s just like spectacular,” said Jason Hotchkin, who’s in the HOPE Program at SRM, “So this place means a lot to me. It means recovery. It’s awesome. It’s ineffable.”
Volunteers served up a bread bowl of soup and some greens to folks sitting behind place mats that were colored by community members. It’s an experience that’s both memorable and delicious.
If you’d like to help out, SRM is always looking for volunteers, donations, and donated items. Not just on holidays, but every day.
Although the SRM does house people, you don’t have to be one of their residents to benefit from their help. They hope these holiday meals spread the word about their services, so they can reach more people who need support.
“We’re always open to the community. If anybody is needing a meal, or if anybody is struggling out there. If anybody, a man or woman, is experiencing homelessness, Springs Rescue Mission is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day,” said Travis Williams, SRM’s CEO and President.
