(BLACK FOREST, Colo.) — On Tuesday, April 2, as part of the ‘We Are The Eastern Plains’ week, FOX21 Chief Meteorologist Matt Meister visited Emerge Aquaponics to learn about its initiative for growing food using less water, ultimately helping communities become more sustainable.
Matt spoke with Josh Imhoff, CEO of Emerge Aquaponics, who said the business was started about 12 years ago with a focus on local sustainability efforts and generating income to fund projects around the world.
Imhoff said that produce grown at Emerge Aquaponics goes to local businesses such as restaurants, universities and colleges. The business also uses its own ecosystem, using fish to create the fertilizer to feed the plants.
