(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — A domestic violence suspect was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 16 after he allegedly threatened the victim’s children with a knife and then barricaded himself beneath the victim’s trailer.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO), deputies responded shortly after 11 p.m. on Sept. 16 to a report of a domestic violence incident in progress in the 2700 block of Robinson Street, near Old Colorado City. The caller reported that her ex-boyfriend, identified as 34-year-old Justin Aragon, had broken a window of her modular home and assaulted her.
The victim also reported that Aragon had retrieved a knife, pointed it at her children, and threatened to fight them.
When deputies arrived, they found Aragon had positioned himself underneath the victim’s home and refused to come out when ordered. A pepper ball was deployed and hit Aragon in the shin, EPSO said.
Aragon then reportedly forced his way out from under the trailer and became “verbally aggressive” with deputies.
“Despite his combative behavior, deputies were able to safely take Aragon into custody without injury to either the deputies or the residents,” EPSO said.
Aragon has been booked into the El Paso County Jail on a slew of charges:
Second degree assault
Menacing
Third degree assault
Harassment
Violation of a restraining order
Child abuse
Resisting arrest
Aragon is being held on a $125,000 bond.
