(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — Multiple agencies including the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) teamed up to arrest a previously deported convicted felon who was in the U.S. illegally.
According to EPSO, 46-year-old Rene Alvaro Cejudo-Monicas was arrested in Fountain after a federal arrest warrant was issued for violating immigration statutes. A search warrant was also issued for a home in Fountain seeking evidence of identity fraud and illegal entry into the U.S.
EPSO said Cejudo-Monicas was a non-U.S. citizen and convicted felon who had been previously deported. He had since returned to the U.S. and was using a false New Mexico driver’s license and a false alias.
