EPSO ordering evacuations for Big Springs Fire

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) has downgraded the mandatory evacuation to a pre-evacuation. Residents in the area may remain in their homes, but are to be on alert.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) has ordered immediate evacuations near Big Springs Road due to a fire that is about 80 acres near Highway 94.

On Thursday, Oct. 30, at around 12:30 p.m., EPSO sent an evacuation order for those living on Big Springs, east of Calhan Highway, west of Lauppe Road, and north of Highway 94 are ordered to evacuate immediately.

The fire is near 31415 Big Springs Road and is about 80 acres. EPSO said Ellicott Fire is the lead agency on the ground. The Sheriff’s Office is working on information about evacuation resources for people, pets, and livestock affected by the Big Springs Fire.
