Ex-deputy arrested for sex exploitation of a child transferred to Montrose County Jail

SAN MIGUEL COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) – A former San Miguel County deputy who was wanted on 28 child sexual exploitation charges has been extradited back to Colorado after being arrested in Mexico.

Jesus Damian Nieblas is awaiting further judicial proceedings, according to the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office. He is also facing 27 counts of failure to report child abuse or neglect.

Nieblas was arrested in the border town of Agua Prieta, Mexico, in late September. He was transferred to the U.S. Marshals at the border checkpoint near Douglas, Arizona. He was previously held at the Cochise County Jail in Bisbee, Arizona, before he was transferred to Montrose.

He fled to Mexico around July 10 after a search warrant for his house and vehicle in Norwood by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. CBI is overseeing the investigation.
