(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Within a few hours from the iconic “Ceasers Superdome” in New Orleans, Colorado Springs became a sea of red and green as Chiefs’ and Eagles’ fans gathered to support their teams in Super Bowl LIX.
The vibe was electric on Sunday, Feb. 9, on both sides of the field. The fans did not disappoint this year as Rhino’s and Kelly O’Brian’s were packed full of energy, with of course, tons of staple Super Bowl food, drinks, and a TV in every direction.
“it’s so exciting and amazing. I cannot wait to watch the game today,” exclaimed Lana Smith, a lifelong Chiefs fan.
Whether you watched the big game from your couch or went to a bar, people across the country gathered for Super Bowl LIX.
“It’s a win-win for me, I just want to see Jalen get a ring,” said William Supreme, a die-hard Eagles fan.
Chiefs fans showed off their previous two wins. “When my team has been number one for so long, I’m like, you know what, work harder,” said Smith.
The teams quickly claimed which bars would be theirs. For the Eagles fans, it was Rhino’s Sports and Spirits in Colorado Springs.
“Eagles fans go here, they’re singing in the background already. Unfortunately, a bar closed down the road and all the Eagles fans chose us to make us their second home, which now seems to be their first home. So. But yeah, it’ll be a big day for us,” said William Pollard, the general manager of Rhino’s Sports Spirit in Colorado.
And for Chiefs fans, Kelly O’Brian’s was the spot to be.
“We’re giving away a bunch of amazing merch and signed jerseys, snowboards, all kinds of stuff, and slinging drinks and amazing food and having a good time,” said Shawna Rouse, a volunteer at Kelly O’Brian’s.
One Eagles fan even went around Rhino’s Sports Bar and Spirits and got everyone there to sign his banner.
“It was great years ago, always when we were at Frankie’s, I had it, most of them sign. Now I’m just picking up signatures in inside and out,” said the fan.
The pride was clear at both locations, one Chiefs fan decked out in a yellow wig while some Eagles fans dressed up as… Eagles.
Eagles fans celebrated each touch down by spelling out “E-A-G-L-E-S!” and of course, each bar was stocked with cold beer, wings, and all the cheese dip you can imagine.
“We have the best wings in town. People are grubbing up on the food,” said Pollard.
For years people have been trying to make Super Bowl Sunday a national holiday, but for now, it is recommended to stay hydrated so work is not too painful on Monday.
