(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) made an arrest on Friday, June 28, for a 2021 case involving a child homicide.
On May 26, 2021, CSPD’s Crimes Against Children Unit was notified by a Colorado Springs hospital of a severely injured infant who was under three months of age and had been brought to the hospital by their parents. The infant died from injuries on June 2, 2021.
In Nov. 2021, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office ruled the death a homicide. In the following years, detectives conducted an intense investigation, including preparing and executing search warrants, reviewing medical reports, and conducting interviews.
On June 28, detectives were granted an arrest warrant for the child’s father, 24-year-old Josiah Whiteley, for murder in the first degree. Whiteley is incarcerated on unrelated charges at a state correctional facility.
