Former youth pastor sentenced in exploitation case

(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — A former Salvation Army youth pastor who was found guilty of Sexual Exploitation of a Child has been sentenced to 14 days in jail and 5 years probation, according to court documents.

38-year-old Jeffery Williams turned himself in to the Fountain Police Department (FPD) in November of 2022 following an investigation into allegations that he exchanged sexually explicit material with a minor. According to FPD, between 2014 and 2015, Williams engaged in video chats of a sexual nature with a minor and had made plans with the minor to meet up for sex.

According to Williams’ arrest affidavit, when the victim was asked by police if she trusted Williams, “she stated something to the effect of, I absolutely trusted him because of his position.”

Williams was found guilty in October of 2023 on two counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child–one count of Enticement and one count of Possessing Material. Williams was sentenced on Feb. 27, 2024, to 14 days in jail and 5 years probation as a registered sex offender.

The Salvation Army issued a statement at the time of Williams’ arrest, which can be read in its entirety in the link to previous coverage above. In part, the Salvation Army said it had reached out to the victim in this case to offer any assistance she may require, and that it does not tolerate sexual misconduct or improprieties of any kind.
