(FORT CARSON, Colo.) — Fort Carson reported on Wednesday, June 26 that it was ‘inundated’ overnight with small, gray insects.
According to Fort Carson, the insects are called false chinch bugs and do not pose a health risk to people. They are simply a nuisance, false chinch bugs do not bite and will die if trapped inside.

The Directorate of Public Works recommends using a vacuum to get them up from floor surfaces and windowsills. They also recommend ensuring windows are closed to reduce the number of insects entering buildings as they may move to a cool building during periods of dry, extreme heat.
