(FORT CARSON, Colo.) — Fort Carson gave updates on the status of two fires that have impacted the post since Sunday, Feb. 25.
According to Fort Carson, on Tuesday, Feb. 27 the first fire that began on Sunday was 100% contained and burned about 700 acres. The second fire that started on Monday, Feb. 26 at Training Range 153 has burned about 2,700 acres and is currently at 75% containment.
Fort Carson said fire crews will continue to monitor the area throughout the day but added forecasted weather over the next day is expected to help put out the remaining hotspots.
No structures or personnel are threatened at this time. Fort Carson warns smoke will continue to be visible, especially between the eastern Fort Carson perimeter and I-25. The cause of both fires is under investigation.
