(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — The Fountain Police Department (FPD) reported on Friday, July 5 it’s investigating a death that occurred on the Fourth of July.
On Thursday night, July 4, an El Paso County Sheriff’s deputy was patrolling in the area of Fountain Mesa and Caballero Avenue when they observed an adult woman lying in the middle of the roadway. Community members and the deputy checked on the woman, believing she had been shot.
Fountain Fire Department and FPD officers responded to the scene and began life-saving measures but were unsuccessful.
It was determined the woman was not shot or hit by a car. This is an ongoing investigation.
