(MONUMENT, Colo.) — Tequila Village Mexican Cuisine Monument is bringing authentic Mexican flavors, a huge tequila selection, and family pride to the table! FOX21’s Krista Witiak recently visited this local favorite for this week’s Foodie Finds.
Tequila Village was born from a simple idea by Paulo and Lulu Villaseñor, a couple passionate about Mexican cuisine and tequila.
The name “Tequila Village” holds special meaning for Paulo. “Village is part of my last name. Villaseñor is my last name, which means ‘Lord of the village.'”
In October 2023, the Villaseñors rebranded the restaurant, marking a fresh chapter. Today, Tequila Village is known not only for its vast tequila selection but also for its menu that brings the taste of Mexico to Monument.
When asked about his favorite tequila, Paulo jokes, “All of them,” showing his love for the drink that is the heart of their concept. “It’s a concept we based on tequila. We have the largest selection in the area, and we’re very knowledgeable about it.”
The menu offers a variety of Mexican dishes, from octopus fajitas to new queso tacos. “We try to be authentic,” Paulo explains. “Our flavors are inspired by Jalisco and Michoacán, which are key regions in Mexican cuisine.”
But what really sets Tequila Village apart is the sense of community. Paulo and Lulu have built a loyal following of regulars who feel at home. “We’re local. We’re a family business,” says Paulo. “We try to treat everybody like they’re at our house.”
And when guests leave empty plates behind, it’s a sign of a job well done. “That means I did something right,” says Paulo, smiling. “It’s a big pride.” Although he admits that his wife, Lulu, is the better cook, Paulo’s passion for food is evident in every dish. “Cooking is my passion, even though my wife is a better cook than I. But I try my best,” he says.
