FOX21’s Matt Meister will ride with Blue Angels

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Blue Angels arrived in Colorado Springs ahead of their first demonstration in Southern Colorado on Saturday, Aug. 17 and Sunday, Aug. 18.

The Blue Angels will be performing in Colorado Springs for the first time as part of the 2024 Pikes Peak Regional Airshow. While tickets are sold out for the event, there are traffic impacts around the Colorado Springs Airport expected. Powers Boulevard from Milton Proby Parkway to Fontaine Boulevard will be closed during certain times for performers’ safety from Thursday, Aug. 15 to Sunday, Aug. 18. FOX21’s Matt Meister was chosen to fly with the Blue Angels for a special media demonstration on Wednesday, Aug. 14.

“I am so honored to have been selected to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the large Blue Angels team and what goes into making it all happen with a special media flight on Wednesday,” wrote Matt Meister on Instagram.

Now all he needs is a call sign.
