(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) is warning the Cañon City community of a large police presence on Wednesday, April 23 for an exercise.

According to the CDOC, a full-scale training exercise will be conducted on Wednesday near the Cañon City complex southwest of Downtown.

The CDOC said there will be an increased law enforcement presence, and assures locals this is part of the exercise and is not cause for alarm.

“Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to enhance safety and preparedness,” the CDOC said.
