General at Peterson Space Force Base passes away

(PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo.) — On Monday, June 30, Space Operations Command announced that Brigadier General Chandler Atwood had passed away on Sunday, June 29.

According to Space Operations Command, Brig. Gen. Atwood, also known as “Fulcrum,” had been with Space Operations since its inception in 2020. Other accolades of his service include working on Space Delta 7, the S2, and as Field Command deputy commander.

“Fulcrum led with grace, mission focus, and commitment to this team. Space Operations Command will carry on that tradition moving forward as we carry on his legacy,” writes Space Operations Command

Space Operations Command also shared resources for those in need. Military One Source and Peterson and Schriever Space Force Base for those stationed in Colorado Springs.

Space Operations Command shared a quote from the family:

If you don’t remember them out loud, they die twice. Honor your grief, for it is sacred. It is a testament to the depth of your heart. And in time, through the pain, you will find healing – not because you have forgotten, but because you have learned how to carry both love and loss together.
