(NEXSTAR) – Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, was evacuated Wednesday morning after reports of gunfire.

The Georgie Bureau of Investigation said it “responded to a shooting,” but didn’t confirm if there were any injuries.

“Apalachee High School is currently in a hard lockdown after reports of gunfire. Law enforcement is here. Please do not attempt to come to the school at this time while officers work to secure the area,” the school said in a message to parents, reports the Athens Banner-Herald.

Helicopter video from WSB-TV showed dozens of law enforcement and emergency vehicles on campus, and students gathering in the football stadium. It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone was in custody.

“I have directed all available state resources to respond to the incident at Apalachee High School and urge all Georgians to join my family in praying for the safety of those in our classrooms, both in Barrow County and across the state,” Gov. Brian Kemp posted on X.

He said local, state and federal authorities were working to gather more information.
